About Us

Our Story
The Society for Energy Photonics (SEP) was founded in Singapore in 2015 and initiated by Prof. Xiao Wei Sun together with a group of international scholars. SEP aims to provide a global platform for researchers from academia and industry to share the latest advancements in photonics, materials, and energy, while bridging the gap between scientific research and industrial applications to support carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals. Each year, SEP organizes a series of high-level international conferences, including the flagship International Conference on Energy, Materials and Photonics (EMP), held across countries such as China, France, Canada, Myanmar, Malaysia, and Singapore
—
engaging over 3,000 researchers from more than 30 countries. SEP is honored to have Prof. Lars Samuelson, Prof. Siyu Ye, and Prof. Xiao Wei Sun as its honorary chairs, alongside an Academic Committee and a Young Scholars Committee comprising over 50 professionals. SEP sincerely invites researchers, professors, and students in related fields to join in advancing the future of energy, materials, and optoelectronics worldwide.
