Biography

Prof. WONG Wai Yeung, Raymond is currently the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Chair Professor of the Department of Applied Biology and Chemical Technology and Clarea Au Professor in Energy at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. In 1992, he received a first-class honours bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Hong Kong; in 1995, he received a doctoral degree from the University of Hong Kong; from 1996 to 1997, he conducted postdoctoral research at Texas A&M University in the United States and the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom. He serves as many journal editorial board members and international editorial board advisory members such as the editor-in-chief of Topics in Current Chemistry and the editor of Journal of Organometallic Chemistry. His long-term research focus lies on the basic and applied research in the fields of the design, synthesis and optoelectronic applications of metal-organic polymers/complexes within the realm of inorganic chemistry. He was listed as the Thomson Reuters/Clarivate Analytics Highly Cited Scientist for seven consecutive years from 2014 to 2020, His work was published in over 800 papers in many top-tier SCI journals such as Nat. Mater., Chem. Soc. Rev., Acc. Chem. Res., Acc. Mater. Res., Nat. Commun., Adv. Mater., Energy Environ. Sci., J. Am. Chem. Soc., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., Adv. Funct. Mater., ACS Mater. Lett, etc.. His papers were cited more than 34,000 times with an H-index index of 89. He is a fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), and won the Hong Kong Croucher Senior Research Fellowship, RSC Chemistry of the Transition Metals Award (the first Chinese recipient), the First-class Prize of the Natural Science Award (first author) from the Ministry of Education of China, Distinguished Young Chemist Award of the Federation of Asian Chemical Societies (FACS), Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation Prize for Scientific and Technological Innovation, the Second-class Prize of the State Natural Science Award (first author), the Lectureship Award for Asian and Oceanian Photochemist of the Japanese Photochemistry Association, Hong Kong Research Grants Council Senior Research Fellowship, Cheung Kong Scholar Chair Professor of the Ministry of Education of China and Founding Member of the Hong Kong Young Academy of Sciences, among others.
